Overview
Cottage Hill Christian Academy is a Christian, co-educational college preparatory school that offers a superior educational opportunity for students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve. A ministry of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, the school was established in 1961, and is recognized as the oldest evangelical school in the state of Alabama.
God has established Cottage Hill Christian Academy for the purpose of impacting lives for eternity through biblically-based and Christ-centered education.
Cottage Hill Christian Academy offers a safe, nurturing environment where our students realize their God-given potential with which to impact the world. It is a place for teachers to influence future generations who learn from their Christ-like models; a place that serves as a powerful academic partner for parents; a place that cultivates our community’s future leaders – those who know and exercise their spiritual gifts to further the Kingdom of God.
CHCA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Accreditation and Blue Ribbon status have been earned with the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA). Our school is a member of the Southern Association of Christian Schools (SBACS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
Since 1961, the CHCA Church Campus (formerly Cottage Hill Baptist School), grades K-8, has provided core studies in Bible, phonics-based reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies. In addition, CHCA offers instruction in fine arts, foreign language, technology, and physical conditioning.
The CHCA Church Campus offers a Conservatory of Music (keyboard, strings, voice, brass, and woodwinds), Enrichment (tutorial and gifted program one-on-one), speech/hearing services, karate, and ballet. CHCA also offers classes in Concert Band, Praise Band, Drama, and Photoshop. Academic competitions that CHCA participates in include the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Oratorical Contest, Science Olympiad, Scholars Bowl, Math Competitions (1st place in state 2006-2008), and Robotics.
Our preschool children experience a variety of learning activities including classes in library, physical education, art, music, Spanish, and computer skills. Before and after-school programs are available for the Church Campus students.
CHCA (West Campus, grades 9-12), was founded in 1997. Heritage, tradition, and vision are the cornerstone philosophies for our student-centered motto of enlightening minds, enriching hearts, and extending hands of service. The college preparatory curriculum offers honor programs, Advanced Placement classes, a nationally recognized Student Leadership Institute and an ACT Prep Class as part of the traditional course offerings. CHCA is proud to have seen over 450 students graduate in our first 10 years.
